The Social had a previous provider install a managed wifi system, but it wasn’t working as managed WiFi should. Their office was continually filled with complaining residents. The way the system was configured by the previous ISP provider was that each resident could only connect to their one individual access point with a pre-set wifi key. They couldn’t connect anywhere else on the property to WiFi. As part of that configuration, it was causing all sorts of interference and not taking advantage of any of the benefits of RF spectrum management that managed WiFi provides when done correctly. On top of that the company they were using didn’t provide adequate support. We were contracted on July 1 and the property needed a solution by August 1, just 30 days away, during the busiest time of the year.
DojoNetworks came in and evaluated the installation as a first step. What we found was that even though the right equipment was used, it wasn’t configured properly and there was no real subscriber management in place. Dojo was up to the challenge of solving the issue and rescuing the properties WiFi before the new residents moved in, committing that we would have this resolved in the 30 days that it needed to be. DojoNetworks installed:
- Our own subscriber management server
- Cellular out of band console server for 100% remote access to all of our equipment even in the event of a fiber cut
- Upgraded the UPSs to have remote management
We communicated with the residents and using overnight maintenance windows we migrated the property over to our standard configuration. We completed this within the 30-day window and now the property is working trouble free. We have also implemented frictionless onboarding, so via API our Elemento system interfaces with the properties management software Entrada, this allows residents to automatically receive credentials prior to move in so they can jump on the WiFi as soon as they get to the building the first time. There is also a free guest network for short term visitors to the building.

Things are running very smoothly. We have had a few support calls, all handled by our fanatical resident support very rapidly. The complaints to the office have been completely eliminated. Residents now can roam the entire property and stay in their own private network and have complete property-wide WiFi coverage.
